Family Craft: Make Homemade Cards for Valentine’s Day
By Dawn Sorem
Materials
8½x11-inch pink card stock, scrap paper, brown card stock and envelope
Pencil, ruler, scissors, glue stick
Dimensional (two-sided) mounting tape
Optional: decorative scissors, brown ink, seasonal stamps
Steps
Fold pink card stock in half. Cut along the fold. Fold one piece in half again. This will be the card.
Write “Happy Valentine’s Day” with colorful marker on the inside of the card. Or use a stamp with brown ink.
Cut brown paper to approx 3x3 inches. Glue to front of card.
To make hearts, use your scrap paper for templates: fold scrap paper in half, draw half of a heart on folded side of paper. Make two, approx. 1½ and two inches.Leaving it folded, cut out the heart. Open them up.
Use the templates to trace the hearts on to the other piece of pink card stock and cut out.
Attach small strips of dimensional tape to backs of both hearts, adhere large heart to brown square on front of card and small heart on top of large heart.
Optional additions: use decorative scissors on the brown square, ink the back of the envelope, or use stamps instead of markers.
