Materials
• Newspapers or Paper towels
• Yarn, ribbon, twine, or rope in any color
• White glue
• Scissors
• Two small bowls
• Balloon
• Safety pin (use with adult supervision)
• Candy (optional)
• Plastic spiders (optional)
Steps
• Lay down several layers of newspapers to catch the mess
• Blow up balloon to the size you would like your bowl to be, tie the end and place the tied end down into bowl, so that it will stay standing upright
• Put a thin layer of glue into second bowl
• Cut yarn into lots of 12” pieces
• Dip yarn into glue and use your fingers to squeeze extra glue back into bowl
• Lay yarn over top of balloon, do not cover tied end of balloon with yarn, because this will be the opening of the bowl.
• Continue dipping yarn pieces in glue and layering yarn in different directions until you feel you have enough yarn covering the top half of balloon; enough so that no candy will fall through
• Set somewhere to dry overnight
• When dry turn balloon over, so the bottom is touching the table, then pop balloon with safety pin
• Carefully remove balloon and trim edges of yarn to get desired shape at opening of bowl
• Place a few plastic spiders on bowl, fill with candy and scare all of your trick-or-treaters with your Spooky Spider Web Candy Bowl.
