Mt. Scott Community Center
We started going to Mt. Scott for a soccer class on Wednesdays and I have to say, I really like it there. For one, the pool is awesome! It's sort of like the SW Community Center one, with a huge swirly slide, tons of fountains, a wading area and the like. Also, the open gym downstairs is in a roller rink. Something about being in a rink just takes me back to the good old days and the roller parties at the beaverton rink - "fast skate, fast skate, time for fast skate" - anyone? » Read more
Happy Halloween!!!
What a perfect day for Halloween! It's nice and foggy - you can just see the ghosts tucked into the sky, awaiting the night. And supposedly no rain! Yay! I really like the change in the Daylight Savings time switcheroo, so this year we may actually get out a little bit before it's completely dark. Lots of buzz in the media about what halloween means and what the event has evolved into being - some are moving for "Green Halloween" with candy-free giveaways and safe zones. It started in the Seattle area, so I am sure we'll be hearing about it soon. » Read more
Research Activism
I love market research calls. I really do. For one, I did survey research as part of my studies in graduate school, calling local voters to gauge their opinions on politicians and issues also known as “polls.” You’re probably getting these calls now as we head into the election season. Think of that person on the other end, someone like me, just thrilled when the people on the phone would answer my questions and help contribute to our research. » Read more

Giraffe Art by Jennifer Mercede
The artist's love of color is one of her biggest inspirations for these pieces, which aren't only of giraffes. All shades of happy, playful, an fun colors - yellows, oranges, pinks (including HOT pink), turquoises, lime greens and shades of brown.
I first saw them at Grasshopper Boutique - they are striking in person and would make such an impact in a child's room, though you could hang them anywhere.

Check them out online:

or visit them in person:

long time no blog
Sucks when your internet goes down. It has been a looong week! but I am thrilled to be back - so much good stuff going on.
First, we started some new activities - ballet/dance & soccer. Both for the little tykes. Really, nothing could be cuter than the four year old girls in their tutus trying to maintain balance with their arms over their heads. And soccer? Our little fella doesn't really get it about the feet - just carries the ball around. but man, do they run and have fun. You would have thought we were at a hilarious movie the way all the parents were cracking up. » Read more
