By Dawn Sorem
What better way to enjoy that wonderful summer sunshine than from inside your own home while looking through a beautiful stained glass window you made yourself. Here’s an easy project parents can do with their kids on a hot summer day, while staying cool inside!
Materials
• 2 sheets of colorful cardstock or construction paper
• Scissors, hole punch, glue, pencil
• Old crayons to use for shaving
Steps
• Fold a piece of scratch paper in half, draw half of a shape and then cut out.
• Unfold shape and trace onto center of colorful cardstock, then cut out and do the same on second sheet cardstock making sure they match up evenly.
• Tear off approx two feet of wax paper. Fold in half.
• Shave different colors of crayons on to wax paper making sure you cover an area slightly larger than the shape you cut out.
• Place towel under wax paper and a couple sheets of paper towel on top of wax paper.
• Turn iron to low temperature with steam off; iron until all crayon shavings have melted.
• Glue wax paper between both sheets of colored cardstock, making sure all sides are even and then trim off excess wax paper.
• Punch two holes in the top of the paper.
• Cut off approx 2 feet of ribbon or string tie around holes in paper and hang from bright sunny window.
Enjoy!
